Nate & Rachel's Engagement in Carmel Arts District

As a photographer, I can’t tell you enough how awesome it is to be friends with other photographers that believe in community over competition. Being able to ask questions, brainstorm ideas, and even do shoots with other photographers is not only helpful, but it can also be a really fun time!

This is Rachel and her boyfriend Nate. Rachel is also a photographer in the Indy area, and she’s a fellow Cardinal! We actually met our freshman year at Ball State. I remember being in an “Incoming Freshman” Facebook group before we even started school. I came across her in the group because she mentioned she liked photography. Little did I know we would eventually be in the same major and become pretty good friends!

A few weeks ago, I rented a 35mm lens I wanted to try out for an engagement session. Unfortunately, it ended up getting canceled due to the weather. I asked Rachel and Nate to do a shoot with me before I had to send the lens back, and they took me up on the offer. I’m so glad they did because I got some great photos during their session! You’ve probably seen some of them throughout my site.

For our first location, we met in Downtown Carmel, Indiana. I’d never been there before, but let me tell you, I have been missing out. There were so many awesome spots so I’ll definitely be going back for future sessions!

This is their dog, Gracie! She is already so much bigger than this, but she was so good for the entire session. Don’t you love her color? She has an Instagram if you want to see more cuteness – @gracie_thebluepitbull … you know you want to!
