Katie and I have known each other for quite some time. We first met in middle school when I joined cross country. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, “Max….YOU ran cross country?” I wouldn’t exactly call it running, but yeah, I was on the team. We were also on the swimming and track team together. Katie’s mom was actually the swimming coach. So you could say our friendship started with sports. Once high school rolled around, Katie transferred to a different school, but we still kept in touch every now and then.
My first time meeting Matthew was on facetime during their wedding consultation. He was very kind and I could tell he had a great personality. After spending the day with him and Katie, it’s no question that they are the perfect match for each other.
Their big day took place at the historic Indiana Theater in Terre Haute, Indiana. It was a VERY cold day…like in the negatives, but the whole wedding party killed it with being speedy so we could get back inside.
How They Met: Told by Katie:
We met about 10 years ago through the Torpedo’s Swimming community. He was my brother Will’s swim coach and I met him through going back and forth to drop and pick up Will. It wasn’t until college that I randomly met up with him over one Christmas break, and we were inseparable ever since, regardless of me living in St. Louis and him living in Florida.
How He Proposed: Told by Katie
After a fairly eventful year of dating, we knew we wouldn’t want to go through life without each other. Matt proposed at Brown County State Park on a sunrise hike (in 13-degree weather) on December 18th, 2015.
Thank you, Matthew and Katie, for choosing me to document your day. I had such a great time celebrating with you and I wish you both nothing but happiness!
