Mariah and her older sister Brittani are two of my best and oldest friends. Their house was like my second home from 6th grade on to my senior year of high school. We had that kind of friendship where I would often text one of them to see if they were home so I could come over and when they responded “yes,” my reply back was “good because I’m already in your driveway.”
Josh is originally from Columbus, Indiana. He comes from a big family…no…a HUGE family. He has 12 brothers and sisters. TWELVE. Imagine the sheer panic that came over me when Mariah told me this and I started thinking about how I was going to fit them all into the immediate family photo. We made it work. 🙂
The entire day took place at the Doran’s residence. It’s a beautiful property on the outskirts of Columbus. The wedding party got ready in the house. The ceremony was in the backyard with woods as the backdrop. Some deer even came out to watch during the ceremony. And the reception took place in the driveway. It was the perfect venue. The house just so happens to be for sale if you’re in the market for a llama farm. (Josh’s family owns a llama farm)
How They Met: Told by Mariah
Joshua and I met on match.com after I made a profile with coworkers just for some fun. I’d just moved into the city 4.5 hours from home and didn’t know anyone besides who I worked with. Josh said he joined because he knew he wouldn’t find a wife at a bar or club. He was the first person to message me on Match and the only one I ever even messaged back. I’ll never forget what he said, “Mariah! What are you doing on here??? You’re way too beautiful!”
How He Proposed: Told by Mariah
We first met in person on August 26th, 2016 at Easton Mall (World of Beer) where we sat for 5 hours. It was only three months later that he asked for my dad’s blessing and 5 months later that he asked for my hand at the same mall where we first met.
Thank you, Mariah and Josh, for letting me document your big day! I had a blast and you both made my job super easy.
