Last summer, I was introduced to Eric & Victoria at my friend Ross’ party. Eric is Ross’ older brother. At the time, Eric & Victoria were engaged and planning to get married in Jamaica. They ended up deciding to have a small ceremony here in Indy and taking an extended honeymoon in Jamaica. I’m just a liiiiitle salty they didn’t decide to fly me to Jamaica with them for their wedding….but all jokes aside, their ceremony at the Central Library in Downtown Indy was perfect! It was small and intimate, the weather was amazing, and the venue was beautiful.
Since they went with a smaller, intimate wedding, we had a TON of time to explore around Central Library for their couple photos. They did a first look in the garden near their ceremony spot, and then we walked around the American Legion Mall.
When we first started shooting, Victoria told me that this was their first time they had ever had photos taken of them. It’s hard to believe because they were great right from the start.
How They Met:
We met at IU my Freshmen year, Eric’s Sophomore year, at a Frat Party my first weekend there. Eric came up to me on the dance floor—I was in a zebra dress with a bottle of grape Karkov Vodka in my hand. Nick (our wedding officiant and Eric’s best friend) was there too! Eric thinks his dance moves are what hooked me, but it was actually his smile. The next day we went to Denny’s and Target…such a romantic first date! But when you’ve just had a night of drinking, Denny’s was a winner at the time, Oh college!
How He Proposed:
Eric is all about avoiding anything cliche—proposing on birthdays, holidays, etc. Or so I thought. New Years was coming up so he had me make reservations at a nice restaurant that I wanted to try. I decided on CharBlue. We usually like to go to a nice dinner on New Year’s Eve so it wasn’t out of the ordinary.
I had finished getting ready for dinner, we had some extra time before our reservation so Eric decided we should pop some bubbles before we headed out. As I was busy getting our glasses and bottle of champagne, he went down on one knee. Eric decided to propose in our first home we share together, which to me, that was the best place it could have happened–just the two of us together in our own home. Completely unexpected since it was New Year’s Eve. That’s why we chose to host our reception at CharBlue!
Victoria got ready in one of the rooms inside of the library. An entire wall was made of windows. The light was amaaaazing.
This is Keith, Erics dad.
And this is Karen, Erics Mom.
Victoria’s mom, Cari, her aunts, and her grandma helped her get ready in her room.
LOVE this.
After shooting around the American Legion Mall for a bit, we headed inside the library.
This is one of my favorites from the day!
The ceremony took place right outside of the library in the garden with the skyline in the background.
Okay guys, I need to take a second to tell you all about my grandma crush on Grandma Min. HOW CUTE is she? She told me at the end of the night that I did a great job BEFORE she even saw a single photo. She’s the best. 🙂
After the ceremony was over, Eric and Victoria got in a horse carriage and rode a few blocks over to Monument Circle. We took a few more couple photos there before heading into their reception dinner.
Eric & Victoria, thank you so much for letting me spend your special day with you guys. I had so much fun!
